How The Deep Stack handles information from website visitors and email correspondents.

Last updated: 11 August 2026

This notice explains what information The Deep Stack handles, why it is used, and what choices you have. It covers this website, email correspondence, and subscriptions through Substack.

Information collected

Website visits

The Deep Stack does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or non-essential cookies.

The website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security, whether or not a visitor is signed in. GitHub handles this information under its Privacy Statement. The Deep Stack does not receive these logs.

Email

If you send an email, The Deep Stack receives your email address, your name if provided, your message, and any other information you include. This information is used to answer your enquiry and manage any follow-up correspondence.

Email subscriptions

Email subscriptions are managed through Substack. When you subscribe, Substack processes information such as your email address, subscription status, account details you choose to provide, and engagement with emails. The Deep Stack can access subscriber information that Substack makes available to publishers and uses it to deliver and manage the publication.

Substack’s handling of information is governed by its Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe using the link in any publication email or manage the subscription through Substack.

How information is used

Information you provide may be used to:

  • answer questions, corrections, and publication enquiries;
  • deliver articles and manage email subscriptions;
  • maintain records of correspondence;
  • protect the website and investigate misuse;
  • comply with legal obligations.

The Deep Stack does not sell or rent personal information.

Sharing

Personal information may be processed by service providers that support the website, email, and subscriptions, including GitHub and Substack. It may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of The Deep Stack or another person.

Retention

Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to answer the message, maintain necessary records, or meet legal obligations. Subscriber information is retained while a subscription is active and as needed to record an unsubscribe request. You may request deletion, subject to any obligation or legitimate need to retain it.

Security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect information under The Deep Stack’s control. No website or email service can guarantee complete security.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information held by The Deep Stack. You may also withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. These requests may be subject to applicable law and the need to verify your identity.

Send privacy requests to rohit@thedeepstack.dev.
